alaipayudhey kanna...romancing the GOD
04.26.04 (8:27 am) [edit]
wonder what this is ?? this is the first line of a tamil song (belonging to the south Indian classical music stream, known as Carnatic music) which has of late interested me much - primarily for its beauty after i understood the meaning, and for the story of the composer Andal (7th century BC) who is believed to be the world's first female lyricist and composer!
well, the story goes like this - the young girl Andal was brought up by a priest in a temple and her daily job was to pluck flowers and make garlands for the deity who was lord Krishna. during this process, she began to fall in love with the lord (much to the horror of her father who himself was a great composer) and insisted that she would marry no one but him! It goes that much to the surprise of all, the lord manifested himself before her and accepted her as his bride. such a sweet end to a divine romance...isn't it truly enchanting ? :)

gone in 73 seconds!
04.19.04 (4:15 am) [edit]
well, thats the time i can stay underwater holding my breath...i found this when i tried out stuff in a forest stream. this was during our trip to mangalore mentioned below and yes, this and much more happened! myself, sid, gujju, rampu and pai -- we had lots of fun in mangalore, udupi, manipal and around. here are the snaps!
the temples, sun, sand, beach, booze and of course babes - i told this chinki girl - she was dining in the resort with her friends - that i thought she looked pretty (thanks to the nokiafp coin and sid). guess what, she smiled, shook hands with me and told me that her name was zhi-zhi (or so i gathered),before she left (i don't know why she left!). what a great reaon to party :) (as if we needed one for all the beer and bacardi we had!) one great weekend hoohoo!

an ode to my lover...
04.19.04 (3:30 am) [edit]
"dil jeet ke tera main kya paoon dil thodke tera sabko bataoon sun gori sun gori sun gori sun..."
this is written in the Hindi language (India's national language). translated, this verse roughly means:
"what the hell will i gain by winning your heart? id rather break your heart and tell all the world about it! listen my love(?)..."
if you are wondering WHAT kind of love this is, i'm not to blame as this was how my friend twisted a song's lyrics to his choice. this moment of insight occured during our pleasure trip to mangalore this weekend (17-18 April)
and one hell of a trip it was... :-)

Only in silence the word, only in dark the light, only in dying life; bright the hawk's flight on th empty sky.

go out and smell the roses!
04.13.04 (2:44 am) [edit]
This is one of the best one-liners I have heard in a few years' time, and pretty much sums up what I am doing these days. I am going out more often (touring with friends or going home), ensuring that I am not in town on any weekend. Its the time to meet new people, see new places, eat new dishes and well, DISCO :-)

04.05.04 (4:00 am) [edit]
Hello all! I am planning to make a trip around the world in sixty days (following the same path as Phileas Fogg and Nellie Bly) in 2005.
This is now my obsession and I am in the planning phase which will last till the year end. Anyone who is interested in this project (in terms of joining the tour, providing information, contacts, sponsorship and/or funds) are invited to please contact me at: hvh1@lycos.com
